150 years ago, the world's first workers' revolution created democracy and liberation far beyond what we enjoy today. The short lived Paris Commune worked to increase people’s living standards immediately by eliminating rents and debts. They increased safety by abolishing the police and standing army. Socialist women were key to winning these victories and in the struggle for socialism around the world after the defeat of the Commune. Join us for a celebration of this history and discussion of the role of socialist women in the Commune based on this article: Genderquake: socialist women and the Paris Commune
