An International Socialists study group
New time: 2PM PDT. Please join us at the Palestine Vigil and Rally after our meeting. Details here.
Just over a year ago, the Wet’suwet’en people's struggle against attempts to push a natural gas pipeline through their lands, and the RCMP attack on them, sparked a mass solidarity movement across what is currently called Canada. That movement continues and so do thousands of other occupations and protests against extractive industrial projects around the world.
These struggles have transformed the landscape, raising hopes of stopping rapacious megaprojects and the climate chaos they bring. They also outline a path along which a powerful movement uniting Indigenous peoples and non-Indigenous settlers in countries like Canada could strike at the roots of capitalism itself.
Join us for a discussion of "Fighting back on Turtle Island: Indigenous sovereignty, the working class and anti-capitalism" by Brian Champ and Michelle Robidoux. The authors will be joining us to open the discussion.
